Filipino Anger Management

i found out about this place in the Philippines when i was watching tv... it's a place/activity designed for anger management. Cool huh? it's called "tacsiyapo".

An extract from Buzznet:
Philippine style anger management is to throw ceramic plates on the walls. You can try to hit the person "friend, in-law, boss, ex girl or boy, etc." or the circumstance then shout "tacsiyapo" for that added empahsis!

well, it seems that it has seen success since its inception. Opened July 2005, it has since had 80,000 ceramic plates/mugs/etc. broken, and has generated over 2 million pesos in revenue (roughly 60k sing dollars for u singapore folks out there.)

From The Daily Inquirer, August 25, 2005:
"Tacsiyapo" is a Capampangan expression which simply means anything so long as it's nasty! The wall was built for people to release anger onto by throwing plates, jars, etc... The idea is to pick a trajectory point, pretend it's your, say, mother-in-law, aim, shout "Tacsiyapo" and throw the plate, releasing all pent-up emotions you may have toward her!

so as you can see from above, there are words like (translated) "abusive customer", "pervert", "suck-up", "casino", "ex-wife", "high blood pressure/ arthritis (?????)", "professor", "ex-boyfriend/girlfriend", and "mother/father in law" haha.

The background is red, invoking anger among the customers. Above the wall is a clear instruction in proper English. and somehow, the enchanted word tacsiyapo helps release anger... cool. Each plate is fifteen pesos (50 cents sing). cool huh?

Another testament of Filipino creativity. Please, don't try it at home.
