BUG OFF.
NOTE: THIS ENTRY WAS WRITTEN IN A TIME OF IMMENSE FRUSTRATION AND MIGHT NOT BE RELEVANT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS' TIME.
Why.
Why do they (or he in particular, for my case) have to sound like a squinched up baby when talking to people. Do they sound more endearing? No. Do they make themselves useful to society by lashing out that unusually thick sing-song southern drawl? No. Do they make the world a better place by laughing at an irritatingly high register? No. Does the entire world appreciate Dreamgirls being sung LOUDLY by Boyonce Knowles when it is trying to rest, recuperate, and regain some sanity? NO WAY.
Wailing. Screaming. Laughing. Bouncing. Dancing. Prancing. and most recently, even Farting. Yes, he's on some farting streak. And it is killing me.
Maybe you would not understand what I am going through, I would not be surprised.
But why? why does he have to torture me???
The other day I went for a talk by Dr. Brian Miller who gave me a great deal of things to think about with regards to faith and how people view the world. And it's not as if it's something new; it's just normal things that we experience everyday that, when put into words, give much more meaning to our thoughts.
Every person has his or her own "world view" that affects the way he or she perceives the world.
So my world view is influenced by my faith: I try and struggle to love the unlovable, forgive those who trespass against me, watch my words, pray, and believe.
So is there an "evil" world view? perhaps. But everybody is entitled to what he or she believes in. What I realized is that world views can only be changed by faith - an atheist remains an atheist no matter how much knowledge he seeks to attain, mankind remains human after all these years, and, my favorite, a chair is still a chair.
What makes the difference is a total change in surroundings, a leap of faith. Something has to happen in the realm of the chair that is beyond its imagination, beyond its own power. An atheist might not be convinced that there is a God, but also cannot prove that there is none. Humans remain as we are because our mutations are so minute in scale that it does not change our very essential basic features. When an external force comes into us - a revelation, a mind-blowing faith experience, then we are changed.
And that is the power that we have in our faith, that we have the means to share it - to channel that faith experience through our testimonies. Our testimonies become living world views that permeate through people and has the power to change them, because it offers something that knowledge does not: life. Hope that one can break out of the normal routines of life, the regular ups and downs that leave us confused. We were once dead in sin, but now we are alive in Christ. True, we still go through hard times, but we go through them with a sense of anticipation, because we know that we are being pruned for the harvest in the future.
Wow. see? the entry didn't go that bad.
So despite all that, I still do not understand his world view, and I really pray that I can at least plant seeds of faith in his heart before I leave.
3 more weeks!
And regarding the room selection, I DID manage to get my own room, praise God. The downside is, there might not be a lot of fascinating things to blog about next year, huh? hahaha
and the next few weeks will be mired by inactivity just because the exams are coming up.
I'M OUT!!!
