my first 9/11 in New York

it's surreal. I guess seeing hundreds of US officials carrying US flags at St. Patrick's Cathedral the day before made me feel nothing but a tinge of apprehension. Come to think about it, it's been five years. And with more threats surfacing through videos and military action, I couldn't help but feel unsafe and vulnerable in such a time and place as this.

Watching all the proceedings at Ground Zero (from the TV, of course) made me feel solemn and safe. I wish I could be there, if not for the long day of lessons (8AM to 8PM!!! free time in between spent running errands) that left me tired and lethargic.

the whole point of this post? nothing, actually. Just wanted everyone to know that I am about 30 minutes away from surviving my first 9/11 here in New York.

I am also 3 days away from watching Rent the Musical at the Nederlander Theater!!! hahaha got my tickets! Front row at the mezzanine level! Yay! *drool*

oh, and I sense the bustling school life again over there in Singapore, even when I'm halfway around the world. Haha nobody's online! mostly, of course... there are always those who brave the exams ahead; those who dare to venture into their own capabilities. To all of you, all the best for your exams. You are all in my prayers.

I am starting to get kinda busy over here. Work's starting to come in. For example, for tomorrow, we have to read Genesis chapters 26-50, then the entire book of Job is due on Thursday. And not just reading as in casual reading. I'm using an annotated Bible, with all the footnotes tracing the historical/philosophical relevances of almost all the verses. Draining, really. But it's such a joy sometimes to be able to study God's Word at such a level. He's even began to teach me things about faith through the lives of these people who face somewhat a similar situation as me. I'll share them with you as I go on the next few weeks.

Ok, I have to further develop that Nirvana Nevermind essay. Now I have to create scenes using it. This will be horrendous - no sleep. Have to get to work!

I'M OUT!!!
