Day 3

Well, after blogging yesterday, I went out to buy stuff... like our pre-first-day-of-school reading requirement: Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake, which I intend to read at a snail's pace.

Oh! I had dinner at this place called Banana Leaf Asian Cafe, which made me realize how much I miss Singapore. Of all the Asian dishes, this is what I ordered:

Hainanese Chicken (with Chicken rice and soup to match: meat was nice and tender, soup was awful.)
Beef curry (not as good, but can pass la... too much coconut cream/milk)
Ba Kut Teh (Too much pepper, too stingy on spices. 1/5 rating.)
and of course,
Teh Tarik (iced) - too much condensed milk!!!

Well, I did order some Phad Thai (is that how u spell it?), which is not Singaporean (Malay/Chinese/Indian/whatever), but reminded me of Thai Express (anyways, it was pathetic. Not even a wee bit spicy at all.)

I almost ordered Penang char kway teow but I was too scared they will disgrace my favorite comfort food. So I decided not to. And I ordered a plate of sambal kangkong, but they didnt have kangkong. Awful.

Just so you know, I haven't put on weight yet.
Also, the meal last night was for 3 people: me, my dad, and my brother.

So yes, I did not gorge. Too bad there were no glorious chili crabs (even if there were, I wouldn't be bothered to order. The mere thought of Filipino chefs (other than myself, eventually, of course hahaha) serving that dish gives me the chills.)

Anyways, on to day 3: The morning was super busy. I had to settle all my tuition payment and stuff that has to reach NY by August 14. Also, I am currently looking for 1 night acomodation for the 26th evening. Then, I had to settle some refund/exchange stuff for a bag we bought yesterday. (Some of you might know that my luggage is making EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL SCREECHY NOISES, so i decided to get a new one.)

Anyways, for the past few days, I have been waking up at around 7:30, which is, for those who know me, is standard for my body clock on days which I have no work/school. However, my dad wasn't too happy about that. Apparently, starting tomorrow, he will train me back to my old ways, waking up at 5 to 5:30 am. This is to enhance my "planning ahead" stage for the day. Sort of an envisioning thing. Which, I guess, is good for me. But my only grudge on this is that my dad has to realise, this would be my last proper vacation. A vacation in which I have nothing in my head: no work, no responsibilities over family (perhaps more of financially), no deadlines to meet (except those pesky matriculation stuff), and so on and so forth. It would be nice if I could enjoy these last 3 weeks properly, and that means more rest, more time for myself, my friends. Perhaps focus on killing nostalgia, which still surfaces from time to time when I glance past photos, letters, e-mails, msn, and even random things at home (moo.)

Then I thought of you folks there in Singapore, who can't even wake up at 8:30am (some of you); who skip breakfast, sleep early in the morning, hang out when you want to, where you want to. Make stoning, lazing around, sleeping, napping, and other lazy-ass stuff an acceptable form of "activity". I know it's wrong, but I sort of miss that lifestyle too. Maybe I am getting old. I'm 20.. yeap, maybe I am old.

When I was shopping with my brother, we were just walking around looking at shops where we would use to go... FUBU, Nike, Adidas, and other places where shirts are emblazoned with stuff that speaks of "attitude" and other stuff, like a skateboarder jumping out of nowhere, and... you know what I'm talking about. Then we started laughing. That was how retarded we used to be. So when we got home, we opened our closet and dug out our older clothes and found stuff that I won't be found wearing anywhere anymore. Haha my point? we're getting older.

and I still miss all of you.
