a walk in the park
hey there. it was a beautiful morning today in New York City: No rain, no dark clouds, and the temp was just fine. so i decided to go out and be a tourist... at my own campus.
Washington Square Park. The only patch of green in my campus, where I waste time reading The Iliad or some other weirdo books. This was the exact location where Adam Sandler shot a scene in "Big Daddy" with the kid, where the kid was playing with his toy in a puddle.
A better shot of the Washington Square Arch, symbol of NYU. (I cheated on this one. This is a photo taken about months ago... if you notice, no leaves on the ground.)
A patch of heaven in the park. nice red leaves. If you look closely, there's a squirrel underneath the tree.
So after my walk in the park, I went to the library, 10th floor. This is the view right in front of me. nice. That shadowy peak in the center (a bit to the left) is the Empire State Building, about 30 blocks away from where I was studying.I chose not to take a photo of myself because:
So, after studying for my midterms (for 3 hours ok?) I decided to reward myself by shopping. I didn't really plan on spending much, but i ended up buying a dark brown leather beret. Goodness I'm addicted to caps. And bagels too. But yah, after I bought that, I felt bad about the indulgence, so I walked 15 blocks back to my apartment as a form of penitence.
The weather's insane. Only last week, it touched about 2 degrees, and now it's back to 17. I'm on the verge of falling sick, if not for the almighty vitamin C. So yes, while enoch's showing nice photos of winter, I'll be updating often with autumn scenery.
Did i just say autumn? Song of Autumn??? We did have a song entitled Song of Autumn right? (The Nakishikano!!! song...)
But I digress. To all my dearest J2's, push push push!!! think of this as the last 100 meters in your 2.4!!! I will be on the side cheering and sprinkling water on you hahaha (I remember somebody did that for me last time... forgot who. well, it didn't really help, but hey, it's the thought that counts!) Like Enoch said, after your last paper, the feeling is liberating!!! Like... hmmm... let me see... OH! like having diarrhea but having no place to release! then after persevering for 3 hours trying to find a toilet, you end up in The Fullerton Hotel's toilet! There you release your royal dump in ecstacy. Something like that. I'm tired. But yes! all the best! and somehow if you're reading this, OFFLINE. NOW.
Well, to those who are going to be carolling, enjoy! really! We might have the mantle of white here, but there are only like, less than 5 voices here. and we are spread out. If we lived in villages, then it would be ok, cos we can stand on top of our highest rock and carol across mountains. Wouldn't that be something!!!
Ok, I'm back to work. I realized that you can't say "I'm going to the library to do some work" here, as they will think you're some geeky librarian. I think we use the term "work" to make our true nerdishness obscure, and make us seem more industrious, if that's an acceptable term to use. Go study!!!
I'M OUT!!!
- My cheekbones have not yet fully developed
- It was about 8 AM and I looked really bad
- I was alone, and didn't want to look like some desperate tourist
- My hair is hopelessly long and ugly.
- I have a pimple on my lower left cheek. Didn't want to immortalize it on a photograph.
